At our GKN Filton site we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies detailed metallic componentsand wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer Industrial to join the team. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise at a local project level for operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials tooling part fabrication and assembly.
How Youll Contribute
Exemplifying a safetyfirst mindset and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
Technical expertise at a local project level in governance and deployment of manufacturing development and integration for production within GKN Aerospace.
Provides technical expertise to rapidly solve issues pertaining to vendor schedule and/or quality.
Breaks down technical problems risk opportunities in the correct order to create products and add value to GKN Aerospace through creating Zero Defects
Leads positive team relationships with internal and external customers as well as coworkers
Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
Provide local project technical oversight for industrial engineering support of manufacturing process development and integration for production through:
Implement the global business process for industrial layout solutions from original concept through to production. Design these processes implementing lean tools and methods in accordance with the GKN standard lean tool suite.
Accountable for new product quotes and manufacturing system change proposals
Manage industrialization projects leading both internal and external (vendor) resources
What Youll Bring
To help us make a difference youll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills experience qualifications and attributes:
Essential
Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering with a professional qualification / background (university degree) in engineering (Aerospace Mechanical Electrical Chemical).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
Detailed knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000 AS9100 or D19000
Fluent in English language both written and spoken
Desirable
Project / Program Management
Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
