Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Economics at Iowa State University in Ames Iowa seeks to fill an Adjunct Assistant Professor position. This is a threeyear term position with potential for renewal and advancement in rank is possible as defined in the Faculty Handbook. The successful candidate for this position will contribute to the departments teaching research and outreach missions. The approximate division of responsibilities for this position is 50 teaching 40 research and 10 service and outreach. Teaching responsibilities may include introductory and intermediate economic theory courses as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in experimental economics econometrics agricultural markets food policy consumer economics and related areas. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong research program with an emphasis on problems important to Iowa States mission as a landgrant university resulting in regular publication in leading journals. Service to the institution and profession are required.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Economics Agricultural Economics or related field at time of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in college teaching
Demonstrated potential for accomplishment in research
Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
Department/Program & College Description:
The Department of Economics with approximately 35 faculty has a long tradition of excellence in education research and engagement with the community. Our undergraduate program is the academic home to about 500 students in three different majors. Our graduate program offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics and agricultural economics and has placed graduates in vital positions in academia government and industry throughout the world. Faculty research covers a broad spectrum ranging from theoretical analyses to applied policy studies. The department is jointly administered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
