Job Description

Position Department: SRC Tutor I Anatomy & Physiology Academic Affairs

Type of Position: Parttime Temporary NonExempt

Work Schedule Hours per week: Varies depending on department needs 12 hours per week

Pay Range:$15.95 $20.31 and determined based on relevant years of work experience.

Benefits Category: Partial benefits

Position Summary: The A&P tutor provides tutoring for students in Anatomy Physiology Pathophysiology and Medical Terminology courses. In addition to that the tutor conducts review sessions leads group discussions and help with learning Anatomy models.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with Successful completion of Anatomy & Physiology courses.
  • Require good communication skills including listening with understanding.
  • Ability to explain concepts in Anatomy & Physiology both orally and in written form in a one to one or small group setting.

Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Tutor students through dropin byappointment semesterlong tutoring embedded and/or group tutoring (online and/or inperson) in specific subjects or content and coursespecific study skills deemed appropriate by the relevant supervisor; build rapport and supportive relationships with students.
  • Assist with centerspecific projects including developing and maintaining physical and electronic center resources (i.e. textbooks anatomical models microscopes calculators and online guides) delivering contentspecific workshops and meeting with students through the Academic Integrity Remediation process.
  • Refer students to appropriate resources within the larger Academic Resource Center and across campus based on expressed student needs.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records adhering to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and keeping appropriate staff updated on student progress and problems.
  • Assist in hiring and training new tutors as necessary and serve as a mentor to other center staff.
  • Participate in mandatory center and campus training including pedagogical training maintaining content expertise and other campuswide training opportunities as appropriate.
  • Assist in the daily activities of the center cover the front desk when needed ensure students are checked in/out troubleshoot technical problems (including LMS software and hardware problems) and help to maintain a positive clean and organized center space.
  • Use appropriate scheduling system to manage and maintain tutoring schedules.
  • Model tutor expectations and reinforce best practices.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating events and workshops related to tutoring subject areas.
