Service Position Title and Type: Summer Youth Program AmeriCorps Member (Minimumtime 300 hours)

Purpose

Our House empowers homeless and nearhomeless families and individuals to succeed in the workforce in school and in life through hard work wise decisionmaking and active participation in the community. The Our House team has defined a set of seven Guiding Principles that characterize our culture and that we intentionally seek to uphold: Hard Work Wise DecisionMaking Community Initiative Integrity Safety and Heart.


Service Position Summary

The Summer Youth Program AmeriCorps Members will serve at Our Houses outofschool program called Our Club which serves up to 200 youth in grades Kindergarten12th grade. Our Club operates every day after school and all day during school breaks (winter break spring break) and teacher inservice days. Our Club also operates a Summer Program for eight weeks over the summer. The Youth Program AmeriCorps Member will assist in planning and implementing enrichment activities for the youth ensure the safety of all children in the program help the youth with their homework and tutoring and create an enriching fun and safe environment for the youth.

The Summer Youth Program AmeriCorps Member will serve to meet established outcomes goals for Our Houses AmeriCorps project including serving at least 150 schoolaged children in Our Club and serving to ensure 100 youth complete at least one semester in the program and helping at least 85 of those who stay for at least three months to maintain or improve their report card grades in literacy and math.

Marginal Functions of Position

This position does not duplicate the work of previous or existing employees or volunteers supplant the hiring of workers or include service or duties that have been performed or were performed by a current employee an employee who recently resigned or was discharged an employee subject to a reduction in force or an employee who is on leave.


AmeriCorps Eligibility: AmeriCorps eligibility requires that participants must be at least 17 years of age at the commencement of service; be a citizen national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States; be high school graduates GED recipients or working toward attaining a high school diploma or GED during their term of service; and satisfy the NationalService Criminal History Check criteria.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required: The Summer Youth Program AmeriCorps Member will be thoroughly committed to Our Houses mission. All candidates must enjoy working with schoolage youth have a positive attitude and serve as role models for the children in the program.


Academic and Experience Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; a youth development background and/or relevant college courses preferred.


Service Conditions: This service is performed indoors and outdoors. This is a physically active role where you will engage with children ages 517.


Program Hours: AmeriCorps members in Our Club serve within the following hours:


Commitment Required: 40 hours a week for a three 3 month term beginning May 19 2025 to August 05 2025 for a minimum of 300 hours during program hours. In order to successfully complete their term of service members should complete the minimum number of hours and serve through the dates listed except in rare circumstances.

Evaluation and Reporting

AmeriCorps Members will participate in an endofterm evaluation and review. AmeriCorps Members will submit their hours on a biweekly basis write quarterly reflections and attend monthly meetings.
