Join the Mako IT team which is responsible for building operating and supporting the complex technology foundation upon which the firms operations are built. In our team worldclass engineers and technicians work together to build and support a highly reliable lowlatency platform to enable the firms business as well as provide a robust and secure corporate IT environment.
The Mako Unix team is responsible for the global Unix and Linux footprint of Mako including all colocated low latency trading servers core compute workstation developer and simulation environments. The team has full responsibility for the entire stack in order to deliver a reliable scalable cost effective and highly performant global platform used by Makos trading quant developer and support teams. The team believes strongly in the concepts of automation visibility supportability and scalability.
What youll be involved in:
- Designing testing implementing optimising monitoring and maintaining the Unix and Linux server and workstation environments
- Troubleshooting and solving issues in both hardware and software
- Building and improving our realtime lowlatency trading operations across global colocation facilities ensuring high reliability
- Collaborating with software developers traders and trading support teams to create industryleading lowlatency trading systems
- Planning and engineering for longterm capacity disaster recovery business continuity and high availability
- Supporting core trading and business software
- Automating and improving the efficiency of the teams operations
What we need from you:
- Experience working with Unix or Linux in a system administration or engineer capacity
- Detailed knowledge of Unix/Linux and associated core services
- Strong understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP UDP Multicast and DNS
- Experience in scripting and automation (Python shell scripting Ansible Jenkins etc.
- An openminded and innovative approach and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and highpressure environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities
- Experience with ITSM tools particularly Atlassian JIRA and Confluence
- Experience in financial or trading environments with an understanding of Exchange market structure and topology is a plus
