Our Head Office is recruiting for an Accountant to join our Finance team in Halifax NS. This is a great opportunity for an individual working towards or planning to pursue their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with a robust support program to enable candidate success as they work towards their designation.
Reporting to the Team Lead Accounting the responsibilities of the Accountant will include but are not limited to:
- Supports full cycle accounting recording reporting and reconciliation of financial activities ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliation(s) assists in the reconciliation of accounts related to payables receivables expenses and capital assets to ensure accuracy
- Manage the companys corporate credit cards and employee expense reports ensuring compliance with company policies
- Performs various financial analysis and adhoc reporting
- Assists the Accounts Payable Administrator in responding to queries relating to the processing and payment of vendor invoicing
- Works closely with other departments to ensure that expenses are appropriately captured and classified and provide support as needed for financial inquiries
- Assists with the preparation of supporting documentation for financial audits and reporting
- Suggests and supports improvements to processes that enhance efficiency and accuracy in managing accounts payable credit cards and expense reporting
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary degree in a related field
- 12 years experience in a similar role or coop experience is considered an asset
- Recently completed working towards or a desire to pursue an accounting designation
- Analytical and problemsolving skills
- Excellent attention to detail organizational skills and ability to multitask in a highpaced environment
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with midmarket or toptier ERP systems is ideal
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities
- Highly organized adaptable to change and eager to learn
