  • Two positions available
  • Employment Type: Fulltime 35 hours per week) role 12month contract
  • Remuneration: Professional staff Level 7: Starting from $110073 plus 17 superannuation and leave loading.
  • Location: Kensington NSW (Hybrid working model of 4 days in office 1 day from home)

Why your role matters

Estate Management (EM) offers services and advice to all Faculties and Divisions on the Kensington campus and subcampuses covering campus planning infrastructure development construction refurbishment maintenance emergency management security and environmental management. The Safety Advisor supports EM by ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation to minimize workplace risks and injuries. The role contributes to fostering a positive health and safety culture aligned with the UNSW Safety Strategy and implements health and safety management systems supporting business operations.

The position reports to the Senior Safety Manager Estate Management with no direct reports.

About the Role

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in and be expected to undertake the following duties:

  • Support the Senior Safety Manager Estate Management in delivering objectives aligned to the Safety Plan for Estate Management.
  • Manage incident reporting and corrective action resolution within agreed timeframe using UNSW systems.
  • Coordinate incident investigations in conjunction with the Senior Safety Manager supervisors health and safety representatives safety committee members and contractors where applicable.
  • Identify and analyse health and safety incident trends and facilitate strategies to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Review and provide safety advice to UNSW stakeholders regarding projects events where Estate Management is a stakeholder.
  • Manage and maintain Estate Management safety records and registers.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience working in a highly complex multifaceted organisation will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in conducting audits inspections and follow up corrective actions.
  • Strong incident management and investigation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to establish effective working relationships including the ability to influence others in the achievement of compliance with WHS legislative and other requirements.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to consult advise and assist in the implementation of the WHS legislation codes of practice and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a cohesive team.
