POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager Social Media facilitates the daytoday management of the Institutes social media strategies to grow audience awareness size and engagement across owned channels. The manager is a creative and culturally attuned digital storyteller with a deep understanding of the independent film ecosystem. They will work to elevate the full spectrum of Sundance Institutes initiatives including the Sundance Film Festival Sundance Institute Collab yearround artist programs and other public programming.
Working closely under the Associate Director of Social Media and Collab Digital Marketing this role sits within the Communications team and collaborates daily with the full Marketing and Communications department to meet broader marketing and Institute goals in line with our mission. A socialfirst mindset is essential as this role will help shape the voice across all social platforms drive audience growth and foster meaningful community engagement.
This fulltime position is based out of the greater Los Angeles CA area in order to work onsite in a hybrid capacity throughout the year. Extended hours including evenings and weekends as well as travel to Institute offices and events will be required at key points.
Top priorities include but are not limited to
Creating actionable plans to grow and maintain followers and increase engagement and Institute awareness on social media platforms such as X/Twitter Facebook Instagram TikTok and Bluesky.
Working with the broader MarComms team to create and implement social media strategies and campaigns in support of specific Institute events (including Sundance Film Festival) programs opportunities and broader brand efforts.
Managing the social calendar and publishing of all content on all platforms ensuring the calendar supports strategic goals and campaign plans.
Regularly researching and evaluating emerging and existing social media platforms to identify new opportunities for audience engagement and brand expansion.
Keeping a pulse on social media trends and seeking opportunities for realtime engagement in trending art culture entertainment and industry conversations.
Staying uptodate on the industry and the artist landscape to be familiar with emerging and established artists their needs and the top issues they encounter.
Developing tactics plans partnerships to achieve business goals with the Associate Director Social Media & Collab Digital Marketing as it relates to social media.
Publishing all content across platforms engaging in ongoing channel monitoring and community management.
Providing onsite and remote event coverage capturing photo and video content to publish in real time on social media channels.
Managing brand consistency in copy through tone voice terminology and aesthetic ensuring that all posts are accurate punctual and missionaligned.
Ensuring a positive customer experience by overseeing all aspects of social media interaction between the audience and the company.
Monitoring performance response and sentiment across all platforms by using Native and Google Analytics and other thirdparty listening and reporting software to make strategy recommendations.
Working with the Content team and agency partners to create and develop content that drives deeper engagement.
Working with talent sponsors and other strategic partners to amplify Institute messaging and ensure social media obligations are fulfilled.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
3 years experience creating and executing social media strategies across a variety of platforms and tools.
Experience managing social media advertising.
Experience with thirdparty social media publishing listening and analytics tools.
Demonstrated ability to create engaging content.
Strong skills in Excel or similar software.
A strong customer support mindset.
Command of the English language with excellent copywriting skills ability to write engaging captions
Skilled at curating creating and editing and scheduling visual content to maximize reach and engagement.
Mobile phone photography and video skills.
Ability to multitask work autonomously and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Experience with live event social media coverage and working with talent and influencers preferred
Experience creating content for videobased channels such as TikTok Instagram and live streams preferred.
Graphic design skills preferred.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.

*Final rate of pay is determined based on the applicants geographic location relevant experience and skills and internal equity among similar positions within our organization.
