Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detailoriented Battery Test Engineer to join our team. This is a very handson position working alongside technicians and interns on the floor to design schedule execute and report the results of the tests on zincair battery cells.
Position Scope and Responsibilities
- Conduct standard testing on zincair battery cells including chargedischarge cycles while collecting relevant data.
- Work directly with technicians on the floor to execute handson testing and objectively document testing incidents and other relevant observations.
- Comfortable working with various dangerous materials including corrosive liquids.
- Collect analyze and report test data while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Participate in or lead structured problemsolving activities using methodologies such as 8D RedX and Six Sigma to identify root cause(s) and drive issue resolution.
- Expert knowledge and practical application of why analysis Ishikawa diagram is/isnot and other problem analysis tools.
- Evaluate nonstandard test requests for relevancy and recommend changes to the test flow to accomplish the goals of the tests. Act as a gatekeeper to only conduct valueadded activities.
- Ensure all testing activities align with agreedupon acceptance criteria and maintain objectivity in reporting.
- Maintain and calibrate (or schedule calibration with external services) test equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including R&D quality and manufacturing to support product development and validation.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices in battery module testing.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering Mechanical Engineering Materials Engineering Chemical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Prior experience in testing electromechanical systems battery modules or battery packs.
- Prior experience working in an IATF 16949 environment would be an asset. Testing experience in a highvolume highreliability environment such as automotive or medical equipment is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with experience in methodologies like 8D RedX Six Sigma etc.
- Proficiency in data acquisition analysis and reporting tools.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and develop test plans accordingly.
- Knowledge of safety standards and best practices related to battery testing.
- Familiarity with environmental and mechanical stress testing of batteries.
- Knowledge of automation in battery testing and data logging systems.
