As part of this team the SDET plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our data pipelines and systems by designing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies and tools.
About the Role
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for the Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 47 years of experience in test automation for data systems with a strong focus on quality assurance scalability and performance testing for data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement test strategies for validating largescale data pipelines workflows and ETL processes.
- Develop and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts tailored for data engineering systems using Python or similar languages.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage for Apache Airflow workflows AWSbased data solutions and other data processes.
- Validate data integrity accuracy and performance in both batch and realtime processing pipelines.
- Implement and maintain data quality checks and monitoring frameworks to ensure the consistency and reliability of data outputs.
- Perform load testing stress testing and performance benchmarking for data systems.
- Identify document and track issues while working closely with the engineering team to ensure timely resolution.
- Stay updated on the latest testing methodologies and tools to continuously enhance the quality assurance process.
Qualifications
- Experience: 47 years in quality assurance or test automation with a focus on data engineering or big data platforms.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Experience testing data pipelines and workflows on platforms such as Apache Airflow or similar tools.
- Proficiency in Python with the ability to write and maintain test automation scripts.
- Handson experience with AWS services such as S3 Glue Lambda and Redshift.
- Data Validation Skills: Strong understanding of data modeling ETL processes and data quality assurance best practices.
- Testing Tools: Experience with test automation frameworks (e.g. PyTest Robot Framework) and performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter).
- Analytical Skills: Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting issues and validating data outputs.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with tools like Apache Iceberg or Looker for data reporting and analysis.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows.
- Passion for driving innovation in testing methodologies for data systems.
