Interpersonal Relations & Conflict Resolution Administrator
The Interpersonal Relations & Conflict Resolution Administrator for Residential & Hospitality Services (RHS) Human Resources department receives reviews and resolves conflict cases including staff disputes and disagreements; coordinates appropriate intervention and followup in support of interpersonal relations and conflict management; provides quick effective and responsive conflict management through varied techniques including but not limited to mediation facilitated conversations and informal dispute resolutions using restorative justice principles and practices; coaches supervisors on informal dispute resolution approaches to correct inappropriate behavior including having difficult conversations; explains relevant University policies and processes and makes referrals to appropriate offices; conducts informal dispute resolutions using restorative justice principles and practices with involved parties to promote open communication understand harm and identify mutually agreeable solutions; coordinates appropriate intervention and followup with multiple stakeholders in support of conflict resolution efforts; gathers information and conducts factfinding inquiries to understand the nature of conflicts; advises parties on relevant university policies and procedures related to conflict resolution; develops and delivers workshops or training sessions on conflict resolution skills for divisional staff; tracks conflict data and providing reports to relevant university personnel regarding trends and issues; assist in the development of annual reports; maintains confidentiality in communicating sensitive information and in handling confidential records; maintains compliance with reporting requirements under Title IX the Cleary Act and other applicable regulations; utilizes restorative approaches to address conflicts focusing on repairing relationships and promoting accountability. This job requires movement and travel to various campus locations.
All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure modification or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one to two years of college or Associates degree program in business psychology social work criminal justice or in a related field; three to five years of related working experience in coordinating needs and services collecting information and maintaining data collection and documentation database; preparing final reports and working with partnering agencies or departments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Postbachelor degree work such as a Masters in Higher Education Administration Behavioral Science Counseling or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in administration program management and training; knowledge of ethics and legal issues in higher education pertaining to conflict resolution; certification and experience with restorative justice.
Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and theories; familiarity with university policies and procedures; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; excellent emotional and cultural intelligence skills; strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
