DETAILS

Job Title Project Manager

Reporting to Operations Director

Depot Podington

THE ROLE

Working as part of the operations team you will have overall responsibility for the management of a number of projects on the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework across the South East and East of England. You will be accountable for the successful end to end delivery process ensuring projects are completed to a high standard of quality delivered safely and within budget.

You will be primarily based in our head office in Northamptonshire but will be to travel across the South East and East regions dependant of the needs of the Framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specific responsibility for the management of our National Highways Scheme delivery Framework in the East and South East regions for street lighting.
  • Responsible for the management of a programme of works having overall accountability for health safety environment quality and budget control.
  • Driving programme delivering to the required outputs you will manage a team of people to ensure productivity is achieved safely and to the specification.
  • Working with other Operations Leads and Contracts Managers managing the daytoday organisation of resources against programmed works
  • Creating a positive team culture and environment within the operations team being empowered to challenge undesired behaviours.
  • Development of safe systems of work and ensuring the site teams are working in accordance with our company governance.
  • Responsible for the quality management development of testing inspections plans ensuring the quality plan is implemented on site and records are captured to demonstrate compliance with the specification and for input into the health and safety file.
  • Working with procurement to ensure material approvals have been gained by the client and orders are placed to meet the required timescales to meet the programme.
  • As an effective leader you will mentor junior members of the team and may have line management responsibilities for contract leads and teams within the direct workforce. Responsible for recruitment PDRs training plans sickness and disciplinary management.
  • Developing effective relationships with the client and other framework contractors you will be the main point of contact for day to day activities on the framework including attending framework meetings reporting and continual improvement.
  • Responsible for change management working with the commercial team to ensure all change is captured and administered correctly.
  • From time to time this role may involve working on projects outside of the National Highways Scheme delivery Framework and performing any other duties which may be .

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role in highways

Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or IOSH Managing Safely

CSCS Managers Card

Working knowledge of CDM regulations

Ability to develop a programme and sequence of works from a set of drawings

Knowledge of NEC form of contract

Programme and Risk Management and cost control including forecasting actual cost and

value reporting

Competent in the use of Microsoft word and excel

Excellent communication people and team management skills

Ability to challenge designs and resolve problems to conclusion

Ability to demonstrate the right behaviours to lead and motivate the team to ensure the culture is in line with our Company values ensuring high standards of compliance to company governance

Desirable

Degree/HNC or equivalent

Good knowledge of specifications and testing regime relevant to series& 1400 of the specification for highways works

Experience of working directly for National Highways

Competent in the use of Microsoft Project
