The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management is currently seeking applications for an assistant professor. This is a fulltime on campus ninemonth tenuretrack position with an anticipated hire date of September 1 2025. Louisiana Tech University is a fouryear selective admissions research university awarding bachelors masters and doctoral degrees. Louisiana Tech has an enrollment of approximately 12000 students and is in Ruston Louisiana.
The department has six fulltime and three adjunct faculty members. Degrees offered include a Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management and a Master of Health Informatics. Both programs are accredited by CAHIIM.
Job Duties:
The responsibilities of the position include course development and instruction in a traditional on campus and online format in the undergraduate HIIM programs. The faculty member will also be responsible for engaging in scholarly activity; performing service activities for the profession university department and community; contributing to recruitment and marketing of both programs; advising undergraduate students; participating in accreditation review; and contributing to all departmental initiatives and goals.
Position Qualifications:
The requirements for this position include a minimum of a masters degree in a field related to Health Informatics and Information Management. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years recent experience in the Health Information Management/Health Informatics field advanced computer literacy with a background of working with medical coding and reimbursement. RHIA credential is required.
