Engineering Assistant
Location: Hybrid (Minimum two days per week at APC Corporate HQ Alabama residency required)
Work Hours: 3640 hours/week
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Assistant with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelors degree from an accredited institution (engineering preferred). This role supports the engineering management team through administrative tasks project coordination and logistical support to ensure smooth project .
The successful candidate will be involved in scope development project management for Retail Customer Service Requests (CSRs) and Line Relocation requests. Additionally this role supports Power Deliverys Retail Team in delivering transmission responses to customer care requests systemwide including short circuit studies excess facilities and customer substation retirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in creating organizing and maintaining project documentation (engineering plans schedules budgets and reports)
- Ensure all engineering documents are accurate uptodate and easily accessible
- Facilitate communication among project teams stakeholders and contractors
- Prepare and distribute project communications including meeting agendas minutes and status updates
- Schedule meetings site visits and projectrelated events
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely project milestones
- Monitor project budgets and expenses assist with financial reporting and forecasting
- Collect and analyze project data prepare summary reports and recommend improvements
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an A.B.E.T.accredited institution (preferred degrees: Electrical Industrial Civil or Mechanical Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project management for transmission distribution or utility projects (overhead/underground)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Teams) and project management software
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven problemsolving and multitasking skills
- Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and build strong working relationships with plant staff engineering teams and vendors
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the SCS TEAMS estimating platform
- Proficiency in Primavera (P6 scheduling software
- Experience coordinating projects involving Transmission Line Design Substation Design and Protection & Controls stakeholders
- Leadership experience conducting onsite meetings and leading project scope development
Contract Requirements:
- Hybrid schedule: At least 2 days/week onsite at APC Corporate HQ
- Must be available for inperson meetings and site visits across Alabama
- Remote work flexibility available
- Alabama residency required
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Interconnections Retail Customer Service Supervisor.
