The Role
The Associate Operational Riskis a handson 2nd line risk role that is part of the Global Operational Risk Team at IFM. This role will support the buildout and maintenance of the Operational Risk framework.
Key Responsibilities
This role will work closely across all business functions and across all regions and be responsible for the following:
Operational Risk Management:
- Overseeing and managing the Risk Events process (covering triage stakeholder management reporting and analysis across the fronttoback process).
- Performing root cause analysis and/or deep dive reviews of events.
- Preparing accurate and impactful operational risk management reports for different stakeholders across the organisation.
- Overseeing and driving timely closure of actions and other remediation efforts.
- Analysing data related to risks KRIs external and internal events and delivering key insights and recommendations to management.
- Driving and delivering ongoing improvements to the control framework.
- Performing enterpriselevel and departmental risk assessments and deep dives and advising the business on appropriate responses.
- Partnering with business units to help them operationalise relevant KRIs.
- Keeping abreast of global industry and regulatory changes and other emerging risks assessing business impacts and driving continuous improvement.
Design Development and Generation of Operational Risk Reporting:
- Building out components of the Operational Risk Management framework which may include but not limited to developing procedures; process workflows; new reports; workshop presentations and training materials.
- Socialising and embedding IFMs global Operational Risk Management Framework associated policies and procedures.
- Leading and / or supporting the delivery of operational risk reporting in conjunction with other team members.
- Input into the design and implementation of new systems that support operational risk processes and reporting.
- Leading and performing user acceptance testing and managing the change request process for the Enterprise Risk Management system (experience of ServiceNow GRC software would be highly regarded).
Operational Risk Domain Speciality - Background and/or experience in a particular risk management domain such as investment operations distribution legal ICARA or AI / data management in a private market asset management environment whilst not mandatory would be highly regarded.
Your Background and Experience
- A strong background in managing operational risk management frameworks 58 years)
- Strong business writing experience with particular emphasis on riskrelated training policies standards and guidelines would be an advantage
- Advanced analytical excel and reporting development capabilities
- Experience working in an asset management institution investment management institution a regulator Big 4 or another major consultancy
- Project management experience related to risk management change initiatives
Qualifications
- Strong academic background in commerce risk compliance and/or legal background
- May have postgraduate qualifications.
Technical Knowledge
- A strong understanding of operational risk management standards
- Domain expertise in a particular operational risk domain would be favoured (such as investment operations distribution legal ICARA or AI / data management)
- Advanced analytical excel and problemsolving skills including root cause analysis.
- Experience with designing business processes and controls
- Experience reporting and producing data insights for senior management level reporting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to influence and motivate others to embed best risk management practices
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Other
- Development and the implementation of operational risk management reports tools; procedures training and workshop materials.
- Provision of accurate timely and concise reporting and analysis related to operational risk.
- Development of key risk indicator and metric suites for measuring and monitoring risks
- Implement quality controls for the accuracy of the reported risk data.
- Performance of operational risk assessments and the delivery of constructive and impactful outcomes.
- Socialise and embed the Operational Risk Management Framework associated policies and procedures.
- Keep abreast of global industry standards and regulations relevant to IFM and operational risk.
- Drive continuous improvement including identifying opportunities for efficiency and effectiveness and delivering these.
