Summit Technologies Inc. is looking for a Network Security Engineer to join our team supporting an important US government agency in the D.C. metro area. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team responsible for various Network Security Tools. The successful candidate will support Network Security Tool engineering administration maintenance and modernization efforts reporting to the Security Operations Manager. This is a hybrid role based in Washington DC. Candidates must be eligible for a Public Trust clearance.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical handson support for various Security Tool engineering and Administration of SASE EDR DLP Web Proxy Email Security IDPS Firewall and SIEM Technologies.
- Create deployment / update / upgrade plan and perform work as outlined.
- Perform routine health checks maintenance tasks update upgrade and implement new capabilities.
- Troubleshoot Network Security Tools issue escalate the issue and work with tool vendors to resolve issues.
- Support the deployment of new Network Security Tools when needed.
- Develop execute and improve work instructions and other technical documentation related to Network Security Tool update upgrade and health check.
- Analyze performance issue of Security Tools using variety of tools.
- Effectively and accurately document work in various formats including work instructions change management requests incident tickets and email.
- Improve efficiency through process improvement and automation.
- The individual must have handson technical knowledge of some of the following: SIEM Networking Linux administration Windows administration Scripting and automation.
- The individual must be able to communicate effectively with minimum supervision verbally and in writing. Must be able to use Word PowerPoint and SharePoint effectively.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Three 3 or more years of experience providing handson technical support SASE EDR DLP Web Proxy Email Security IDPS Firewall and SIEM Technologies.
- Two 2 years of experience in administering Operation systems (Windows and Linux)
- One 2 or more years of experience in administering SIEM
- Two 2 years of experience in scripting and automation
- Two 2 years of experience developing executing and improving work instructions and other technical documentation related to Security Tool Administration.
Education:
- Bachelors degree plus five 5 years of related information security experience otherwise eight 8 years of work experience.
Certifications:
- Industry standard cybersecurity certification (e.g. Security)
Clearance
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
