Server/Barista (Senior Living Arlington Heights IL

This position will be hybrid for dining room server and cross trained to barista pending operational needs.

Shift start times are 7A 11A 4P and can be 8 hours or 4 hours pending schedule flexibility of candidate.

Wage Range: $15.50 base per hour. Wage increases with prior work experience.

Working as a barista/server in a senior living community provides a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our cherished seniors residents their families and our team members. By crafting delicious beverages with care and warmth youre not just serving coffee youre brightening their days fostering a sense of community and creating moments of joy and connection. Your role as a barista extends far beyond the coffee machine; its about creating a welcoming environment where residents feel valued and appreciated. Your contributions are:

  • Operates cash register with an accuracy of 99.85 (plus or minus).
  • Sets up appropriate cashier bank.
  • Documents cash received and charges made.
  • Identifies customer needs and refers to appropriate department for followup when necessary.
  • Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
  • Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks such as espresso caffe latte and cappuccino.
  • Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies pastries and cookies etc. for coffee bar.
  • Stocking refrigerators with beverages condiments etc.
  • Cleaning sanitizing polishing general work areas this includes sweeping mopping vacuuming and throwing trash.
  • Prepare and gather items needed for meal service.
  • Provides exceptional service to all guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you will need:

Prior food service or barista preferred we will train persons with passion and dedication

ServSafe Certification and State Food Handlers Card

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Must be 16 years of age

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Requires mobility to stand and walk extensively during beverage preparation and service. Lifting carrying trays and boxes up to 25lbs. Push/Pull Food Hot Boxes up to 50lbs. Bend stoop for access to carts food trays and other kitchen equipment. Manual dexterity for the use of kitchen utensils and tools. Visuals for reading menus labels and directions. Hearing to respond to verbal communications. Taste and Smell to assess food quality freshness and adherence to dietary requirements. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.

Ensuring that diet aides meet these physical and sensory requirements is crucial to their ability to contribute effectively to the wellbeing of senior residents in a senior living community.
