Job Description

The Press Brake Operator works in KC Tanks metal fabrication department. This position operates the press brake machine paying special attention to quality and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Press Brake Operator
  • Setsup and operates machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Performs part programming on machine.
  • Forms inspects parts for accuracy places correct Labels on parts and sorts.
  • Assists in performance of trouble shooting on machine when needed.
  • Safely and effectively use hand tools computers various measuring tools and machinery.
QUALIFICATIONS to perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and/or responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES include but are not limited to the following.
  • Ability to schedule work load and material efficiency.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
  • Familiar with 5S method of processing.
  • Complete understanding of fabrication mathematics.
  • Ability to measure and verify dimensions using various measuring devices: tape measure caliper machinist square protractor.
  • Ability to identify retrieve and install the required punch based on bend radius.
  • Ability to identify retrieve and install the required die based on material thickness.
  • Ability to download program files or program a press brake at the controller.
  • Ability to program each program step using tonnage mode angle mode/absolute position.
  • Ability to properly and safely operate a press brake from a variety of manufacturers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot analyze and resolve operating and fabricating challenges.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
TRAVEL
This position generally does not travel but travel could be required for training opportunities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Amanda Fiber laser experience Dr. ABE Blank experience a plus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk crawl stoop and reach and feel with hands and arms and will occasionally use a ladder or stepstool. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to operate the machinery the computer and assemble information; must be able to clearly communicate with others either verbally or via written communication. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and might occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud consisting of normal fabrication shop equipment and activities. Employee works inside a building that is not a climate controlled environment.
