We support and encourage education and the love of reading in a welcoming atmosphere with a knowledgeable serviceoriented staff. The department has two fullservice facilities and employs approximately 60 fulltime and parttime employees.

The next chapter of the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library program is the pending completion of Phase 2 of the Second Story and Beyond project which includes the construction of a childrens discovery space with over 5500 sq ft of exhibit space a portion of which will be dedicated to STEAMrelated educational exhibits and programs for the community and greater region.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC

As Development Manager you will organize aspects of Cityled fundraising for the SecondStoryandBeyond project.Thispositionwillplanandimplementmajorgiftsolicitations write grant proposals oversee the Second Story fund development process and strengthen relationships with corporate individual and foundation donors.

Other aspects of this position include participating in budget analysis and administration preparing reports making recommendations for appropriate action and acting as a liaison between departmental staff and donors funding agencies and organizations. The Manager will work closely with the City Council City Managers Office Director and Deputy Director of Library Services and others with a high level of visibility and momentum that helps create a sense of excitement optimism and confidence in achieving the mission and goals of Second Story and Beyond.

Youllberesponsiblefor:
  • Developing strategies for the solicitation of donor gifts from individuals businesses and foundations for the Second Story and Beyond Project
  • Researchingwritingsubmittingandmanaginggrantproposalsandreportsthatsupport the project and its mission.
  • Establishingandtrackingprogresstowardfundraisinggoals. Writing and preparing major giving proposals.
  • Researching developing and maintaining donor lists.
  • Managing daytoday relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Process and maintain recordkeepingofgiftsdonationsandexpenses.
  • Creating and maintaining performance benchmarks and costperdollar raised reports.
  • Working with the Community Affairs Team to develop and facilitate an integrated marketing and outreach plan utilizing websites social media and donor reports.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience

Minimum of two years of fulltime experience in fund development or membership solicitation and grant writing experience with a documented track record of success. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and internet research. Working knowledge and/or experience with the use of social media. Knowledge of donor fund development software or database systems is highly desirable.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Creativity flexibility and the ability to multitask and prioritize; a strong commitment and dedication to providing quality service to the residents and the greater community of Rancho Cucamonga; an understanding of the needs and interests of major gift donors; a demonstrated knowledge of the principles of research and report preparation. Excellent time management and organization skills are a must for this candidate to succeed. The qualified candidate should possess a knowledge of the practices and methods common to the field of fund development and grant application processes and outreach. Candidates must possess the ability to write and speak comprehensively clearly and persuasively; to think analytically and show initiative and leadership.

Special Requirements:
Ability to work evenings holidays weekends and oncall status.

Physical Demands
The sensory demands of the job typically require speaking hearing touching and seeing. This position requires frequent sitting and standing and occasional walking between work areas. Finger dexterity is needed to access enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend stoop kneel reach push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Positions in this classification occasionally lift and carry reports and records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
