Job Description

Position Summary
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies CLACS in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies HLS at Indiana University Bloomington seeks to fill the position of a nontenure track fulltime lecturer in Haitian Creole language and Haitian studies beginning August 1 2023. Initial contract will be for three years renewable annually with review for promotion for excellence in teaching to the rank of senior lecturer and longterm contract in the sixth year. Teaching load is three courses per semester and active involvement in training and supervision of graduate student teaching assistants conducting placement tests and other duties related to program management and development. Duties include teaching Haitian Creole language at the beginner intermediate and advanced levels along with courses on Haitian and Haitian diaspora studies. The lecturer will also be asked to participate in the development of new teaching resources outreach activities and grant proposals related to the work of teaching and scholarship on Haitian language and culture at CLACS .
