JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Responsible for conducting Low Vision Occupational Therapy (OT) evaluations and related Occupational Therapy assessments for individuals with low vision establishing a plan of care and providing appropriate interventions to meet client goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Clinical supervision of Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant where applicable.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.

Knowledge and Education:
Position requires a fouryear college degree in occupational therapy. Strong knowledge of diseases of the eye assistive devices/technologies and visual assessment techniques is essential.
Skills and Abilities:
Position requires good Occupational Therapy Clinical and documentation Skills. Also requires communication organization assessment interpersonal problem solving computer and teaching skills.
The ability to multitask assess needs of the visually impaired and recommend solutions to meet their needs is required.
Experience:
Three years of clinical practice preferably in the area of Low Vision geriatrics or neurological rehabilitation.
Certifications/licenses:
Requires State licensure or eligible for State licensure in Occupational Therapy. License renewal is required every two years and recertification is required every five years involving continuing education and professional experience. Preference for Low Vision certification or participating in Low Vision rehabilitation certification program.
Work Environment:
Position work in a standard office environment would involve travel to client homes and offsite Braille Institute of America sites as needed.
