CouMall is one of the fastest growth business units in Coupang and helps tens of thousands sellers and brand owners to grow their businesses and brand. Which is a key product to acquire new sellers to join Coupang platform and motive sellers to be more active and engage. With various of customized seller shops and brand shops CouMall provides consumers much rich shopping experience help them to find what they want and connect with sellers and brand owners directly. CouMalls shop solution is the core element for sellers to be successful on Coupang for both shortterm and longterm sales goal. CouMall provides seller with the full ecommerce tools includes shop with many sub areas: dynamic product listing and products recommendation inshop search shop recommendation and discovery rich content CRM Offsite integration analytics etc.

Meanwhile Ads products (PA MADA BPA and SSVA) are the marketing tools for vendors to acquire more traffic to their own shops to raise the brand awareness and grow long term unit sold. Role Overview:

CouMall team is looking for a Sr Staff Backend Engineer to tech lead the Ads landing domain projects connect Ads and their own shops to maximize the ROI for vendors.

We are looking for candidate has very strong leadership skills can fast learn new technologies. Be able to design/propose new architecture considering the endtoend process of the application in charge of to connect both sellers and consumers through ads and shops. Make value contributions for both parties. Keep evolving and optimize performance through machine learning and other AI technologies.

What You Will do:

We are looking for passionate senior leader to build highly scalable low latency online systems. You will be working together with Ads management team for ads landing setup and automation; working together with Ads Serving team for all signals exchange and optimization; working on inshop dynamic experience through machine learning technologies and systems to power and enhance the ads traffic results. You are responsible for maximizing the return of vendors investment on Ads CouMall benefits/promotions and shop curation.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or electrical/electronic engineering mathematics or equivalent
• 10 years of solid work with fundamental algorithms system design and large distributed systems
• 10 years of coding experience in Java Go C or other strong types coding languages
• Handson experience in leading team to build large scale realtime service
• Successful experience of building rulebased model
• Fluent speaking and writing in both English and Korean

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10 years experience with handling large data volumes in a distributed environment.
• Senior tech leader for E2E business area delivery. Self motived and self driving. Can influence without authority and work with product manager front end engineer ranking engineer to build new systems.
• Rich experience with serviceoriented architecture and web application/services development
• Rich experience working with AWS (Amazon web services)
• Successful experience in building machine learning applications and systems including but not limited to ads search and recommendation systems
• Successful experience in build GBDT two tower and etc popular ML models

Pay & Benefits

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. At Coupang your base pay is one part of your total compensation.

The base pay for this position ranges from $138000/year in our lowest geographic market to $297000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience.
