The role involves managing a team of designers engineers and architects to ensure that facade designs meet client requirements industry standards and regulatory guidelines. Heres a detailed job description:
- Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements goals and constraints. Develop a comprehensive design plan and schedule for facade projects ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and objectives.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of designers engineers and architects providing guidance support and feedback throughout the design process. Delegate tasks effectively and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of highquality design solutions.
- Design Development: Oversee the conceptualization development and refinement of facade designs including materials selection structural analysis and aesthetic considerations. Ensure that designs align with project specifications budget constraints and performance requirements.
- Cost Estimation: Collaborate with the estimating team to provide input on the cost of facade materials labor and engineering services. Use historical data industry benchmarks and supplier quotes to estimate project costs accurately. Develop cost models and projections to inform budgetary decisions and value engineering initiatives.
- Structural Analysis: Conduct structural calculations and simulations to assess the performance and stability of facade systems under various load conditions (e.g. wind snow seismic). Utilize software tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze stress distribution deflection and other structural parameters. Optimize facade designs to meet safety durability and performance requirements while minimizing material usage and construction costs.
- Energy Efficiency Modeling: Perform energy modeling and analysis to evaluate the thermal performance and energy efficiency of facade designs. Use software tools such as EnergyPlus or IES VE to simulate heat
- Collaboration: Foster collaboration and communication between internal and external stakeholders (e.g. clients consultants contractors) to integrate facade designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to review and validate facade designs for accuracy functionality and compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any design issues or discrepancies.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with facade design and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively. Proactively address technical logistical and budgetary concerns to ensure successful project outcomes.
