Software Firmware Developer

We are currently hiring for Software/Firmware Developer to join our team in Calgary working on tactical communications for the Bowman Program. This program is focused on system integration of digital voice and data technology to provide secure radio telephone intercom and tactical internet services in a modular and fully integrated system.

The development team is designing and developing enhancements and capabilities on the Bowman communication system so you will be responsible with designing developing and unit testing new enhancements capabilities and/or fixes for defects to support the Bowman communication system. Services consist of onplatform and offplatform communications network data routing and forwarding radio communications Headquarter communications (fibre NonLine of Sight) battle management and system management along with email chat and other IT services such as custom applications and COTS products.

The responsibilities and range of activities will vary but in general will include:

• Participate in scrum events including sprint planning daily scrum sprint reviews and retrospectives.
• Estimation and refinement of the product and sprint backlogs.
• Perform firmware and software design development and unit testing as required to complete the sprint tasks.
• Review of subsystem and product requirements specifications interface control documents design documents and use cases.
• Provide support to the system engineering and the product integration and verification test teams as required by reviewing requirements test plans and procedures and by providing overall firmware and software engineering expertise.
• Work closely with various engineering functions throughout the development cycle for the purposes of design capture and analysis.
• Make presentations of his/her work at design reviews or other types of peer reviews.
• Some travel may be required to support internal and external customers.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science Engineering or applicable scientific discipline is required.
• 5 years of experience.
• Experience with objectoriented development in C and C#.
• Experience with C programming.
• Experience with developing software/firmware in a Linux OS (kernel 4.x)
• Experience with developing software in a Windows 10 operating system.
• Experience with UML and modelling techniques.
• Experience with unit testing and test driven development.
• Disciplined approach to software development with knowledge in agile development.
• Experience in Transport layer technologies such as TCP/IP or UDP.
• Networking experience in technologies such as (IPv4 VLANs Routing Protocols (OSPF RIPv2 BGP4 DHCP DNS DSCP)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
