Position Description:

Division Chief Pediatric Complex Care

Medical College of Wisconsin & Childrens Wisconsin

The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is seeking an innovative and scholarly physician leader to serve as Division Chief for Complex Care. This is a faculty position offering an academic appointment at the Medical College of Wisconsin commensurate with experience.

The Complex Care Program comprised of faculty and staff in the Division of Complex Care along with team members from Childrens Wisconsin provides care coordination and medical comanagement for a growing number of children with medical complexity and high resource use. Established in 2002 and financially sustained by a partnership with Wisconsin Medicaid the Complex Care Program serves enrolled children and families in both the inpatient and outpatient settings in a consultative model.

Our team includes 5 physicians 10 nurse practitioners 11 nurse / care coordinator dyads and dedicated support from administrative assistants social workers pharmacists a psychologist and a research coordinator. Our program is actively engaged in all missions of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Childrens Wisconsin including clinical care education academic scholarship and community engagement and advocacy.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for the mission and vision of MCWs Division of Pediatric Complex Care and will have a strong track record of collaboration scholarship and leadership appropriate for faculty appointment. Relevant clinical experience success in scholarly work and leadership are required. As Division Chief of Pediatric Complex Care this individual will report to the Chair of Pediatrics.

In addition candidates should possess the following qualifications experience and skills:

  • Minimum of an MD MD/PhD DO or foreign medical equivalent
  • Successful completion of Pediatrics or Internal Medicine/Pediatric residency program
  • Board certified in Pediatrics
  • Eligible for full unrestricted licensure to practice in the State of Wisconsin
  • A passion and ability to work well with families and a multidisciplinary team
  • The clinical experience and proficiency needed to care for children with medical complexity and contribute to developing and evaluating new models of care for the complex care population.
  • An ability to foster a highly collaborative academic environment
  • The ability to successfully recruit and retain diverse talented faculty and staff and foster their career development.

The Division Chief will guide the educational community and research missions of the Division of Complex Care and will work collaboratively with the Medical Director of the Complex Care Program on the clinical mission.

The Childrens Research Institute
The longstanding financial commitment by Childrens Wisconsin to supporting pediatric research was formalized in 2003 by creating the Childrens Research Institute (CRI). In 2007 dedicated pediatric laboratory research space was expanded by adding nearly 100000 square feet of lab space in a new building which provides infrastructure and other support for pediatric investigators conducting child health research. Childrens Wisconsin prioritizes research as a philanthropic cause to stimulate research activity and provides $16 million annually to support pediatric research annually inclusive of philanthropy and overhead. The CRIs academic partners include the Medical College of Wisconsin UWMilwaukee and Marquette University. Types of support provided by the CRI include: 1 supplemental grant support for earlystage investigators; 2 competitive pilot grants to help investigators test new ideas; 3 shared services including biostatistics flow cytometry and a pediatric translational research unit staffed by pediatric nurses.

Childrens Medical Group
Childrens Medical Group (CMG)providesprimary care for more than 140000 children. CMGhas >130 providers in 22 locations which include locations in both urban and suburban sites.CMGs Midtown Pediatrics is the academic center for general pediatrics for our enterprise.Since 2014 there has been a 12 percent growth in paneled patients and CMG has received acknowledgement for patientcentered medical home recognition.

Childrens Specialty Group
A multispecialty academic group practice with over 600 providers that provides specialty services at Childrens Wisconsin and 22 ambulatory clinic locations across Wisconsin and beyond.
