Job Description
The Janitor will maintain appearance of the Distribution Center champion the Bobs Way in all interactions and observe all safety requirements of Bobs Discount Furniture.
Pay: $16.50 $17.00/hour
Job Responsibilities
- Clean building floors by sweeping mopping scrubbing or vacuuming them
- Gather and empty trash in predetermined areas
- Service clean and supply restrooms in the warehouse
- Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
- Clean and stock all water coolers as per schedule
- Clean windows glass partitions and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners sponges and squeegees
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
- Steamclean or shampoo carpets as needed
- Strip seal finish and polish floors
- Clean laboratory equipment such as glassware and metal instruments using solvents brushes rags and power cleaning equipment
- Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
- Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
- Remove snow from sidewalks driveways and parking areas using snowplows snow blowers and snow shovels and spread snow melting chemicals
- Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Set up arrange and remove decorations tables chairs ladders and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
- Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation
- Advise of repairs/replacements items needed to maintain regular use of all machines
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of custodial experience or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge skills and abilities have been achieved
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience in a Warehouse atmosphere
- Ability to communicate proactively and effectively including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions reading and writing and having knowledge of commonly used concepts practices and procedures as required by the position.
- Skilled at multitasking and managing competing priorities
- Must be able to work flexible hours determined by the needs of the department including weekends and evenings
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment products techniques and standards
