We develop and operate one of the largest scale software platforms. The fleet consists of millions of virtual machines generating terabytes of logs and processing exabytes of data per day. At our scale we regularly observe cloud hardware network and operating system faults and our software must gracefully shield our customers from any of the above.
The Database Platform is responsible for provisioning and managing the thousands of databases across all three cloud providers (Azure AWS GCP) in regions around the world that underpin the majority of Databricks realtime services. The team is in the process of adopting an open source distributed SQL engine to ensure high availability scalability and performance of all databases across all cloud platforms. This is a missioncritical service which is held to the highest standards regarding operational rigor and performance.
Were looking for a Staff Engineer to join our team.. This role requires driving innovation in a missioncritical environment while also nurturing and ensuring the operational excellence of multiple teams.
What we look for:
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field
- 5 years experience working in distributed systems or database/storage technologies
- Experience in designing developing deploying and operating large scale distributed systems.
- Experience working on a IaaS PaaS or SaaS platform.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
- Experience with software security and systems that handle sensitive data.
- Experience with cloud technologies e.g. AWS Azure GCP Docker Kubernetes.
