Description

The LGBTQ Center Student Coordinators for Digital Content develop digital graphics print resources and social media engagement strategies to promote the Centers events services and offerings. LGBTQ Center student staff will advance their skills in inclusive community building by providing event support engaging the Centers visitors and connecting students with campus and community resources. This role will provide valuable experience for future careers in digital media event planning and promotion media communications diversity education LGBTQ research and more!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create digital graphics for social media and printed flyers to promote LGBTQ Center events and resources
  • Help the Center plan and/or create video content for social media and our website
  • Develop a social media engagement plan each semester including program advertisement educational and informational postings and LGBTQ awareness day/week/month observations
  • Provide support for LGBTQ Center events
  • Greet visitors to the LGBTQ Center and actively foster a welcoming inclusive environment
  • Provide general office support and maintenance of the Center
  • Provide peertopeer support and referrals for students who need resources
  • Work 6 hours a week for the LGBTQ Center which includes weekly onehour staff meetings and weekly halfhour supervisor meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have strong graphic design skills; video production skills preferred
  • Must have experience working with one or more graphic design and flyermaking software programs (Illustrator Photoshop Canva etc.
  • Must have experience working with Instagram and a willingness to learn other social media platforms; experience creating engagement strategies preferred
  • Must be available for staff training at the beginning of each semester employed (the weekend before classes start) which will be compensated
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of historically marginalized students experiences and needs
  • Must always carry oneself as a representative of the LGBTQ Center a student leader and a role model for ones communities and Ithaca College
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality with Center documents meetings conversations and visitors
  • Must be enrolled as a student at Ithaca College
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must be in good academic standing for the term prior to starting and during the entire period of employment

COMPENSATION

Starting pay for this position is $15.50 an hour.
