A combination of training education and/or experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of: English grammar and usage sufficient to keep records place orders and prepare simple narrative reports; basic math to place supply orders and maintain inventory.
Ability to: understand and carry out oral and written instructions; work independently without close supervision; keep accurate records; use a computer to complete daily tasks; perform minor building maintenance tasks and learn to make minor repairs; communicate effectively with current and former inmates/juveniles in detention and with members of the public; work well with coworkers inmates and or juveniles and the public; maintain appropriate relationships with inmates or juveniles in custody; safely maintain the security of assigned inmates or juveniles in custody; learn to operate fork lift based on assignment.
Additional Requirements: Must be physically able to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds above and below shoulder height perform continuous standing walking reaching and bending. Incumbents may be exposed to a variety of hazardous materials including exposure to chemicals fumes and toxic substances. Work in some positions may require various types of physical exertion such as: bending stooping and lifting; carrying and moving heavy objects such as linens supplies or inmate property over uneven surfaces such as up or down staircases and narrow hallways; environment may be subject to loud noises and varying temperatures; possession of a valid California Class C drivers license at the time of appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS:
1. Review applications and supplemental questionnaireto determine those applicants who meet the employment standards.
2. Review of Personal History Questionnaire: Qualified candidates will be emailed a notice to complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). Failure to submit a PHQ by the deadline will result in disqualification from the selection process. Candidates who successfully pass the PHQ will advance and be invited to the next step in the selection process.The appointee must satisfactorily complete a oneyear probationary period.
