The Starburst Engineering Department located in Largo FL is seeking an onsite Broadcom VMware and Omnissa Horizon Engineer to maintain a VMware virtual server and desktop environment. The guest systems include Microsoft Windows Linux and vendor appliances. An ideal candidate should have experience in many of required technical skills below. This position requires working independently under limited oversight while supporting and maintaining the environment.

This position requires an active Top Secret US Security Clearance with SCI eligibility.

What You Will Do:

  • Configure manage and maintain the physical and virtual infrastructure.

  • Perform required maintenance operations of several VMware virtual infrastructure in accordance with established schedules and best practices. May require off hour support

  • Implement and maintain ESXi VM and vCenter DISA STIGs

  • Install configure and integrate servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.

  • Create and Maintain Golden images to be used in the deployment and recompose of Horizon desktop pools.

  • Management of zero client hardware using PCoIP and or Blast to connect to Horizon environment

  • Monitoring of F5 environment servicing Horizon to end users

  • Performing backups troubleshooting and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.

  • Build highly available server clusters in a vSphere environment.

  • Build and configuring virtual networks.

  • Document test and implement virtual services and devices.

  • Assess and evaluate current virtual computing infrastructure and provide recommendations for enhancements.

  • Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

  • Create and defend system change requests.

  • Manage user requests for assistance application installation and upgrades.

  • Configuring and supporting security support infrastructure including backups antivirus software patch management and vulnerability scanner.

  • Responsible for the maintenance configuration and reliable operation of secure computer systems network servers and switches.

  • Install and upgrade computer components and software manage virtual and physical servers and integrate automation processes.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors documenting problems and resolutions prioritizing problems and assessing impact of issues.

  • Create documentation of all work performed to capture configuration and installation procedures.

  • Support security staff in compliance and vulnerability audits of computer systems implementing security remediation and during accreditation events.

  • Work with users to identify needed database design changes required to support changing processes or requirements.

  • Must have the ability to work well independently under limited oversight be selfdirected and able to prioritize work.

  • Selected candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills as well as strong analytical critical thinking and problemsolving skills.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must have experience deploying and troubleshooting the Omnissa Infrastructure.

  • Must have experience deploying and troubleshooting on premises Broadcomm VmWare Enterprise.

  • Must be proficient in estimating time to complete tasks and meet those timelines.

  • Must have experience in multisite data replication for virtual deployments.

  • A strong understanding and knowledge of computer network and security systems.

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security or CISSP preferred) is required on day 1.

  • Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience

  • Active DoD Top Secret U.S. security clearance with SCI eligibility is required prior to start date

  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server environment to include but not limited to Active Directory DNS and Group policy.

  • Experience with Linux bash

  • Understanding of basic network engineering fundamentals including: OSI layers IP addressing subnetting TCP/IP stack VLANs DHCP etc.

  • Willingness to learn new technologies and applications as required.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing computer security.

  • Ability to adapt both an offensive and defensive mindset to support securing information systems.

  • Ability to quickly switch tasks based on changing priorities.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision. Must be a selfstarter with initiative.

  • Ability to work with an extremely risk adverse customer and their policies.

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
