2nd shift Furnace Operator 10 shift premium competitive wages)
Position Summary:
The operator is responsible for operating an Annealing Furnace. Clad metals and mono metals are heat treated through the furnace and must be run continuously to prevent the production of adverse mechanical properties or surface finishes caused by furnace stops.
Responsibilities:
- Set monitor and regulate furnace controls to process materials as required by route card and/or SOP instructions
- Operate overhead cranes & fork trucks to move load & unload coils of material
- Follow production schedule as required
- Use material handling equipment and other rigging
- Perform peel testing of product
- Use hand tools and hand held measuring instruments
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment
- Remove defective material from coils
- Use mechanical joiner to connect coil ends and allow coils to run without stops
- Complete production and material quality data logs as necessary
- Diagnose equipment & material problems; take corrective actions as necessary
- Learn procedures for start up/shut down the furnace
- Learn procedures for rethreading strip annealing lines
- Maintain work areas in clean and orderly fashion
- Assist in all clean ups and set ups for all furnaces
- Wear all required PPE at all times
- Maintain an acceptable level of housekeeping order and cleanliness in the area
- Other duties as required
Education and Experience:
- High School or Equivalency Diploma
- Basic Shop Math
- Experience operating related equipment preferred
- Ability to read and understand written instructions in English
Physical Demands:
- Heavy lifting up to 40 lbs
- Standing up to 90 of time
