We are currently seeking a Lead Teacher for our Nonpublic Special Education School who will be responsible for implementing an individualized comprehensive program for our students who are multidisabled and blind or visually impaired.
This is an exempt position that reports directly to the Principal of the Special Education School.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- You will implement an individualized comprehensive program based on the Critical Skills Model while focusing on the students development of compensatory skills and selfesteem.
- You will participate in educational assessment by using selected tools involving parents designated instructional service staff and other
- relevant individuals.
- You will develop students Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) with the assessment team based on assessment findings and priorities
- identified by parents.
- You will be responsible for providing instructional activities which are ageappropriate functional motivating and which reflect IEP goals.
- You will provide diverse learning opportunities such as communitybased instruction daily living skills arts and crafts music and
- movement vocational social integration swimming and recreational activities.
- You will provide handson supervision of staff volunteers and interns in the Special Education School to ensure quality teaching and
- application of the curriculum is carried out through careful monitoring of individualized programming as per every students IEP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required; Masters preferred
- Must have a California Specialist Credential in one of the following: Visual Impairment Moderate to Severe Disabilities Severely
- Handicapped or currently enrolled in a traditional or internship credential program in one of the above content areas.
- CBEST certificate required.
