The Food Services Supervisor 9 position directs the food services activities at the MYTC. Duties include supervision of the kitchen and all kitchen staff. Participates in the selection and training of all new kitchen staff and is responsible for evaluations and corrective action of kitchen staff.
The supervisor assists with preparing meals for youth and staff plans and prepares special diets as required and ensures food is ordered and orders are within budget allocations. The supervisor follows best practices and ensures compliance with the Department of Health standards for cleanliness. The supervisor is involved in the routine work and responsibility for preparing meals for a moderate number of people.

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Food Services Supervisor 9 Four years of experience performing quantity cooking and food preparation tasks equivalent to a Cook including three years equivalent to a Cook E6 or two years equivalent to a Cook 7.
Additional requirements:
Food Handlers Certification
Serve Safe Certification
Possess a valid State of Michigan Drivers License
Must have reliable transportation
Preferred Experience: Extensive responsible experience in institutional management of secure institutions and juvenile treatment institutions.
Possession of an associates degree in dietetics; food services management; hotel restaurant and institution management; culinary arts; or human nutrition and two years of experience overseeing a variety of quantity cooking and food preparation tasks including one year equivalent to a Cook E6 may be substituted for the experience requirement.
OR
Possession of a bachelors degree in dietetics; food services management; hotel restaurant and institution management; culinary arts; or human nutrition may be substituted for the experience requirement.
This position is located at the Michigan Youth Training Center (MYTC) at 400 N. Rose Street Mt. Clemens MI.
