Job Description

Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG) is a statebased national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping students of promise who have faced barriers achieve success through graduation.

We seek employees who are passionate about serving and making a difference in the lives of others. Join our Team as a JAG College Success Coordinator at Ivy Tech Sellersburg!

Design and implement an effective JAG College Success Program to establish and maintain a pipeline of prospective JAG program participants and increase retention and graduation rates of participants at Ivy Tech Sellersburg

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Local Workforce Development Board (Southern Indiana Works) and their service provider as well as leadership at Ivy Tech the Department of Workforce Development and the state JAG program.
  • Build relationships with local high schools including JAG Specialists teachers counselors and administrators to facilitate and support student transitions from high school to college.
  • Work directly with Ivy Tech Career Link team to design and implement retention initiatives including programming that is aligned with the community and talent needs of business/industry in the regional area.
  • Assist JAG College Success participants with enrollment academic and financial aid matters and make appropriate referrals to support student success.
  • Advocate for JAG College Success participants with Ivy Tech staff community agencies and businesses as appropriate.
  • Assess each students educational and employment preparedness and administer required testing and assessments.
  • Conduct coaching meetings with each student to set goals and determine a service strategy and course of action to achieve the students goals and objectives. Provide case management services guidance support tutoring and referrals. Leverage an interactive model to promote selfefficacy resilience and persistence.
  • Teach an entry level course tailored to JAG College Success participants. Use current and effective teaching methods to meet established learning objectives.
  • Develop and act as the sponsor for a JAG Student Organization on campus. Create a community learning model that fosters a sense of belonging and includes peer support service learning and leadership development.
  • Serve as an advisor to the studentlet JAG Career Association.
  • Manage JAG database system as well as Ivy Tech systems for reporting and documentation needed for measuring success and student activity.
  • Monitor and maintain program and participant data and records including but not limited to retention graduation rates and employment rates.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in the area of employment and training programs employer relations social work economic development education management business or related field.
  • Experience in educational programming teaching and/or employment and training serving diverse student populations. The ability to establish working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required. Knowledge of computer applications and familiarity with electronic records systems required. Position also requires a valid drivers license and the ability to travel by both public and private transportation including selftransportation. These requirements are in addition to the duties listed in the position description.
