Description
  • Perform identified Move/Add/Change (MAC) activity to include all required network modifications both physical and logical. May include moving/adding connection in network closet and terminating port connections at the end location (desk/office/conference room etc.. May include necessary changes within the switch to accommodate port activation.
  • Perform as first responder to ITSM and Service Now problem tickets. May include a variety of duties to include customer contact problem identification and research taking corrective action acquiring additional support documentation and problem closeout.
  • Support other network personnel as required with the installation/modification of network infrastructure and components.
  • Support during offhours and weekends may be required for maintenance windows and break/fix. Monitor control and isolate problems in a data communications network.
  • Monitor all network activity. Activate/deactivate network lines according to established schedules. May perform first and/or secondlevel problem determination (first level is helpdesk). Interface with users and/or network vendors.
  • Set up and test a variety of systems and hardware components prior to field deployment.
  • Analyze failed equipment according to established methods or procedures and determine whether equipment is repairable inhouse or must be returned to the vendor for repair.
  • Perform standard repairs and tests of components or equipment that can be repaired inhouse. Test incoming repaired items from vendor to ensure that repairs were properly done.
  • Ensure compliance with standard IT security rules and regulations. Physically install network assets (i.e. switches routers firewalls network tools & testing devices) in network closets and data center network cabinets including:

1. Logically configure network switches and tools/testing devices

2. Complete patching of circuits into switches

3. Perform network closet cleanup switch port optimization and survey work as needed

4. Operate network test equipment (layer 13

  • Monitor and take appropriate action from network alerts generated from management tools.
  • Administer ITSM / Service Now network ticket queue. Respond update and close Remedy incident tickets (break/fix and service requests). Support network break/fix actions to restore service to customers. Meet network SLA and performance measurements.
  • Provide customer interface communication skills. Take initial Tier 1 calls from customers and/or help desk.
  • Administer network asset tool to help assist in data integrity.
  • Administer network drawings and documentation tools.
  • Support afterhour network change control maintenance windows as needed.
  • Assist with other network personnel to maintain well organized network equipment storage areas.
  • Assist with network equipment RMA activities as needed.
  • Update and maintain AutoCAD and Visio drawings.
Requirements
  • Five years of experience as a Network Technician. CCNA OR CCENT certification preferred (but not required).
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking hardware and software
  • Perform advance Cisco switch configuration from command line layer 2 and layer 3 configurations involving expert knowledge of the Cisco IOS in an enterprise environment. This includes knowledge of HSPR RPVST EIGRP BPDUs Vlans Trunks and VTP. Working experience of at least 3 years hands on
  • Advanced troubleshooting of complex switching problems for Spanning tree vlans ether channel and layer 3 routing protocols OSPF EIGRP and BGP.
  • Work with facilities for new build outs of office spaces and new site for Network cabling Fiber cooper power cabinets racks and data closets. Work on budgeting pricing out quotes and comparing quotes from cabling / electrical venders. This will include interacting with the customer and venders on a daily basis.
  • Over 3 year Working experience of Cisco Wireless support of WAPs and WLCs in lightweight mode running multiple SSIDs and WLANS.
  • Advanced knowledge of Single mode Multimode fiber cooper cat 6 and other layer 1 cabling trouble shooting including use of TDR and Fluke testers.
