Job Description

Location:Alaska Railroad Operations Warehouse and Car Shop

Supervisor:General Manager

SummaryReceives stores and distributes products from warehouse to train cars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads par sheets to determine items to be moved gathered or distributed amongst units.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to train cars.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size type style color or product code.
  • Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerators and freezers.
  • Fills requisitions work orders or requests for materials tools or other stock items and distributes items to train cars.
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens bales crates and other containers.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Counts items for distribution to train.
  • Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to train.
  • Maintains inventory records.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two and threesyllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Certificates Licenses Registrations

State of Alaska Food Handlers Card; TAP Certification First Aid and CPR Certifications and Drivers License with good driving record

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception.

Whileperforming the duties of this Job the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
