Job Description

Description of the Organization:

For almost 30 years LEAP has worked with children teenagers and young adults in New Haven Connecticut in some of the lowest income urban neighborhoods in America. As the largest youth agency in our city we provide free academic support social enrichment and leadership development but we do so in a unique way. We give older students (ages 1624 the training education and resources they need to work as counselors to our younger students (ages 715. In doing so we go beyond impacting individual lives through education and employment. We build a community with power and purpose.

Position Summary and Principal Working Relationships:

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for the preparation and disbursement of biweekly payroll for up to 175 employees. The coordinator will onboard new employees create employee profiles and files. The Payroll Coordinator will also oversee contribution tracking for LEAPs 403(b) retirement plan employee benefits and payroll status changes. The Payroll Coordinator ensures that payroll records are maintained accurately and runs reports as needed in support of management and annual audits. The Payroll Coordinator is supervised by the Managing Director of Finance and is part of a 3person Finance Office team.

Essential Duties:

Payroll

  • Workscloselywiththe Financeteamandalldepartmentsonallpayrollrelated issues.
  • Processesbiweeklypayrollsinatimelyandaccuratemanner.
  • Confirmsandmonitorselectronictimecardsandsupervisorapprovals.
  • Reviewscomputedwagesandcorrectserrorstoensuretheaccuracyof earnings.
  • Maintainsaccuratepayrollrecordsand employeefiles.
  • Facilitatesthe403(b)planbyensuringaccurateandtimelycontributionsare made to the plan and answers employee questions if needed.
  • Prepare various payroll and management reports for management and annual audit.
  • Answer inquiries regarding employment verification.
  • Correctlyenterandmaintainanywagegarnishmentsdeductionsand vacation/sick accruals.
  • Reconcile payroll bank statements and review accuracy of payroll deductions.
  • Respondtoemployeeinquiriesandrequests.
  • Maintainstrictstandards ofconfidentialityandtrust.

Employee Onboarding

  • Onboards all new employees ensuring the accurate setup of payroll in ADP tax deductions and timekeeping.
  • Runs employee background checks.
  • Ensures accurate employee files related to employee background checks and payroll.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorsdegreefromanaccreditedinstitutionofhigherlearningis preferred but not required.
  • Experience in ADP Workforce Now and ADP Payroll processing.
  • Prior experience in QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Abilitytoestablishworkprioritiesmeetdeadlinesandremainflexible.
  • Abilitytoworkindependentlyandaspartof ateam.
  • Excellentverbalandwrittencommunicationskills.
  • Commitmenttothemission andgoalsofLEAP.
  • Demonstratedabilitytocompleteworkinanorganizedandtimelyfashion while remaining personable and professional in workplace interactions.
  • ProficiencyinExcelWordWindowsOfficeandInternetresearch.
  • Strongwrittenandverbalcommunicationskills.Demonstratedpresentation skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong confidentiality.

Salary:$50000 $52000
