Software Development Engineer Alexa Smart Home

The Alexa Smart Home Cameras team is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer. The ideal candidate is an innovative selfstarter who is looking for an opportunity to contribute building innovative applications for IoT space.

Alexa Smart Home Cameras team enables Alexa with a sense of sight around customers homes with innovative experiences like Alexa show the front door or other ambient features like automatic announcements with a live view of cameras where interesting events (person/package/doorbell) were detected. We provide a suite of APIs for 1P (Ring Blink) and 3P partners to integrate with and enable these capabilities for their cameras. We achieve this by developing technology across Computer Vision media streaming realtime communication and the Alexa app. Our customers are endconsumers who want to use Alexaenabled devices to simplify their experiences with their smart home cameras and doorbells as well as the developers that make the devices like Ring Arlo Nest and Wyze.

Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer on the Cameras team you will build Cameras customer experience on Echo FireTV devices and engage with experienced crossdisciplinary teams to design implement and bring to market innovative products and features. You will

Build and maintain reliable highperformance applications for a variety of Amazon devices (e.g. Amazon Echo FireTV)
Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams and stakeholders to deliver the best product for our customers
Work in an agile environment to deliver highquality software
Mentor junior engineers to help create a high performing team

About the team
Alexa Smart Home Cameras team builds features and APIs for Alexa that allows her to have a sense of sight voice and presence anywhere anytime. Our customers are camera device manufacturers developers and endcustomers. Our technology solutions span ML/AI media streaming realtime communication app development.

3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Proven deviceside software development experience building highperformance applications or middleware components.

3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience in video and audio coding standards (AVC HEVC OPUS etc) and streaming (WebRTC RTP RTSP etc) technologies. Familiarity with React Native framework is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
