Performs STAT and routine pathology frozen section procedures (preparation processing and/or staining of patient tissues) prior to the microscopic study and diagnosis by the Pathologist and/or Dermatopathologist. Performs Pathology biopsy specimen grossing (description weight color simple dissection). Perform and assist Pathologist Assistant or Pathologist with autopsy procedures (preforming evisceration techniques). Interacts with physicians nurses and other allied health individuals in a manner which is helpful in understanding test availability for the department. Helps to problemsolve cases for Pathologists and other staff members as needed.

BS degree in biological chemical or laboratory science required. One year of experience preferred. Must have completed an accredited Histology training program.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the methods instrumentation grossing techniques anatomy of the human body evisceration techniques and frozen section procedures is required. Must be able to work (rotating shifts) and evenings upon occasion as well as on call support.
License or Certification:
Clinical Laboratory Technologist (specialty Histology) Florida licensure HT (ASCP) and/or HTL (ASCP) national certification Valid Florida Drivers License to be able to cover frozen section and on call procedures.
