Job Description
Emerald is seeking a Senior Editor for Hospitality Design and Boutique Design teams.
Hospitality Design HD magazine published 10 times a year and Boutique Design (BD) published twice a year are the premier trade magazines serving the hospitality design industry.
Through its magazines events trade fairs and digital platforms it connects owners operators purchasing agents designers and architects involved in the design of hotels resorts restaurants cruise ships nightclubs/lounges spas and all other hospitality projects.
As a Senior Editor you will play a key role in content creation and editorial development across multiple platforms both print and digital. You will also contribute to our industryleading trade fairs and events.
You will bring your passion for design or hospitality (product knowledge or experience a plus) as well as your enthusiasm to be the face for Hospitality Design and Boutique Design at our events when needed. The Hospitality Design and Boutique Design team is a small collaborative and hardworking group where you will relish the opportunity to wear many hats.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit compelling content for print digital and social media across both brands including the products sections for HD and BD print and digital
- Produce product content including biweekly newsletters exclusive product galleries features and interviews for the website working closely with the senior digital editor
- Responsible for 24 original digital pieces (features profiles etc. for the websites
- Assist in writing content for other sections of the HD and BD print publications including front of book trend pieces feature well and back of book features and Q&As
- Oversee and serve as lead editor for the BD Fall and Winter print and digital issues as well as the BD social media accounts and biweekly newsletter
- Collaborate with the editorial team throughout the magazine production process ensuring content accuracy consistency and quality. This includes factchecking reviewing and editing pages for clarity grammar and adherence to the brands editorial style as well as providing feedback on layouts headlines and more
- Work closely with the senior digital editor and executive editor on digital exclusive including sponsored content (Instagram Takeovers and Partner Spotlights) and HDs biweekly podcast
- Maintain and organize a comprehensive a database tracking projects products and industry professionals features in HD and BD magazine to ensure accurate recordkeeping and easy reference
- Help with award competitionsalongside the executive editor tracking entries coordinating with the judges and planning the awards ceremonies in spring and fall respectively
- Represent HD and BD at industry events including HD Expo and BDNY by networking and moderating panels as needed. Attend and represent the brands at local industry meetings and networking events.
- Lead and coordinate product design competitions at both HD Expo and BDNY working closely with exhibitors industry experts and judges to execute successful competitions
- Serve as the oncamera host for sponsored product videos at the tradeshows as needed
Qualifications:
- 57 years experience feature writing/editing for media preferably B2B
- Magazine experience and/or design writing a plus
- Strong knowledge of writing for and posting on digital platforms SEO best practices and Lead Gen best practices
- Experience with social media best practices for media including LinkedIn Facebook Instagram X and others
- Excellent copyediting and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of AP style
- Proficiency in WordPress CMS InDesign Photoshop and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with Photoshop or related imageediting program for basic photo resizing
