Job Description

The mission of Jazz at Lincoln Center Inc. (JALC) is to entertain enrich and expand a global community for jazz through performance education and advocacy. From college students to young stars from working professionals to celebrated masters we present quality jazz for an everincreasing audience in an unprecedented range of activities and a variety of venues. We are dedicated to lifting audiences and bringing people together with substance and with integrity. JALC has created a dynamic platform where our key constituents jazz artists (beginner to grizzled veteran) fans (casual listeners to advanced scholars) educators (local band leaders to leading artisteducators) and advocates (local community advocates to important national promoters) can meet engage learn and work towards common objectives.


Position Description

The Receptionist is responsible for handling front office reception and administrative duties including greeting guests answering incoming calls directing calls as appropriate and responding to inquiries about Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) from the general public clients and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Answer main line incoming calls and direct callers to appropriate employees as necessary.
  • Handle and address queries from the public and customers.
  • Monitor visitor access and maintain safety and security protocols.
  • Greet and direct visitors to the organization.
  • Maintain presentable safe and clean reception area.
  • Ensure knowledge of staff movements in and out of the organization.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support such as receiving and sorting mail and deliveries.
  • Assist with the general maintenance of the kitchen conference rooms and common areas.
  • Schedule appointments; organize conference and meeting room bookings.
  • Maintain appointment calendar manually.
  • Complete other relevant duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a customerservice oriented position reception information desk or other relevant role.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and phone etiquette coupled with the ability to handle challenges or difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Ability to consistently maintain a professional and respectful manner in the workplace.
  • Reliable with a positive handson attitude.
  • Ability to be punctual and professional and work effectively under pressure both independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of or keen interest in and appreciation of jazz music and jazz culture.

Work Hours

Fulltime Monday through Friday schedule 8:30a 5:00p.

While it is a flexible work environment it is not a remote work environment. All staff work together as a team Monday through Friday at Jazz at Lincoln Centers administrative offices at 3 Columbus Circle and at Frederick P. Rose Hall The House of Swing.
