What Does the Behavioral Health and Suicide Prevention team Do
Using trauma informed collaborative culturally responsive and creative tools our program provides an array of suicide and behavioral health prevention and postvention services. Our primary ways of supporting the community include technical assistance consultation training and program development. From our GetTrainedToHelp community training website to supporting community responses to suicide and violence our program engages with community through organization support and prevention education for all.
Internship Description & Responsibilities:
Support our Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition through activities and outreach.
Learn and provide support for suicide and behavioral health prevention training in the community.
Explore suicide and behavioral health prevention and postvention through shadowing team members
Participate in general outreach events and research opportunities for community event engagement
Assist in the research and development of a resource guide that focuses on culturally relevant/appropriate postvention supports available in Multnomah County.
Learning Outcomes:
A broad understanding of suicide prevention strategies and impacts on community.
Skills to build coalitions across communities and organizations.
Knowledge of evidence based and culturally response suicide intervention strategies along with multiple course certificates.
Increased ability to advocate for practices that bring hope and healing to diverse communities.
Education and Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should have completed or be enrolled in a college/university academic institution.
Promote a culture of respect inclusiveness and appreciation of diverse perspectives backgrounds and values Link to Equity and Empowerment Lens
Ability to listen to accounts of death/suicide/violence and ask for support as needed
Basic data entry and documentation skills
