Primary Purpose Of Position
The Associate Dean for Research and Program Innovation for the Honors College reporting to the Dean of the Honors College will work closely with the Honors team and with North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University faculty and administration in providing leadership to advance the quality and stature of the research and development in the Honors College. In addition the Associate Dean will implement the research aspects of the Colleges strategic plan and forge innovative programmatic educational and research and development partnerships both internally and externally.
Minimum Requirements
The requirements for the Honors Associate Dean include: Earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university; qualified for a faculty appointment in one of the academic departments at the University. Minimum 57 years of Higher Education experience with evidence of progressively increasing level and scope of responsibilities A record of teaching research and service in their field. Demonstrated experience balancing multiple projects with a desire and ability to coordinate and implement team developed and data driven departmental goals/objectives. Demonstrated evidence of strong communication skills (written and oral). Proven track record of obtaining research funding from private and major federal agencies; Proven ability in forming successful research teams and commitment to working collaboratively with people from a diverse range of disciplines and groups; Experience in donor prospecting in cultivating and developing relationships with key donors and in achieving success with major gifts; Ability to manage/oversee special events with an eye towards helping donors to connect at a deeper level with the students; Resourceful committed selfdirected and goaloriented with an entrepreneurial spirit a strong work ethic and keen attention to detail; Focused and disciplined administrator able to formulate an effective timeline to establish and prioritize next steps and to execute an effective strategy for success. The Honors Associate Dean should also demonstrate a passion for working directly with students and have a record of successful student mentorship evidence of successful advocacy for student achievement as well as demonstrate success in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships particularly with initiatives that support and recognize the accomplishments of highachieving students. The Honors Associate Dean should also have knowledge of and experience in fiscal management and compliance in the oversight of grants contracts and major research programs; success as a leader of a department college or university level initiative; experience in planning implementing and sustaining comprehensive research programs; and ability to engage in an appropriate level of teaching and externally funded research activity and scholarship.
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
7 years experience in higher education with evidence of progressively increasing level and scope of responsibilities. An outstanding research record commensurate with Associate Professor or full Professor. Additional skills/characteristics include: conflict resolution time management and ability to use and learn a variety of software products (MS Office webbased systems etc.. Demonstrated evidence of experience working with an Honors Program or College (preferred).
