The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) is an awardwinning public housing agency in the City of San Diego that provides innovative housing assistance programs for households with low income or experiencing homelessness. The San Diego City Council in its role as the Housing Authority of the City of San Diego oversees SDHC. SDHC helps pay rent for more than 17000 households with low income annually; is a leader in collaborative efforts to address homelessness such as the Community Action Plan on Homelessness for the City of San Diego and SDHCs homelessness initiative HOUSING FIRST SAN DIEGO which has created more than 11000 housing solutions since November 2014 for people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness; and creates and preserves affordable rental housing with more than 23000 affordable units in service in the City today with SDHCs participation.
About the Department:
The Real Estate Operations division contains theProperty Management(PM)andAsset Management(AM) departments. Together the Property and Asset Management departments are responsible for effectively and strategically managing over 2200 units scattered across over 150 properties.
About the Position:
The Site Cleaner is an onsite position who will serve properties in the East West and North regions of San Diego and will report to a Property Manager. This position is critical for SDHC owned properties as the Site Cleaner will serve as an ambassador and demonstrate to residents how the properties should be maintained. The incumbent will work independently most of the time but will report issues and concerns to the assigned supervisor. The ideal candidate will be a selfstarter exercise discretion possesses excellent communication and customer service skills pay attention to detail as well as possessing basic computer skills to complete reports.
Daily tasks include custodial duties such as cleaning and reporting of maintenance issues and safety violations. The incumbent will be required to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of assigned SDHC properties.
Class Characteristics:
This is a journeylevel class in the maintenance series that performs routine site cleaning services to ensure
San Diego Housing Commission properties are in clean and functioning order for the residents. Incumbents are responsible for performing maintenance on Commission housing units buildings and facilities.
Examples of Essential Job Functions:
The primary responsibilities of the Site Cleaner involves the upkeep of the properties in order to enhance and maintain curb appeal. The Site Cleaner will also assist the staff as directed in their efforts to manage the properties in an efficient manner.

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth 12th) grade and minimum six 6 months experience in the same or similar positions of cleaning and maintaining building interiors/exteriors.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California Drivers License by time of appointment.
Physical Demands:
Must possess mobility to work in and around Commission buildings and facilities to operate a motor vehicle and drive on surface streets; strength stamina and mobility to perform light to medium physical work to work in confined spaces and around machines to climb and descend ladders and to operate varied hand and power tools and equipment; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate abovementioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend stoop kneel reach and climb to perform work and inspect work sites. Employees must possess the ability to lift carry push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 75 pounds or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
