Job Description
Hours: fulltime 37.5 hours per week) Monday Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm this position is based onsite hybrid schedule once training complete with three days on site not a remote position

Position Summary
The Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for protecting Horizons information systems from cyber threats vulnerabilities and unauthorized access. This role involves monitoring networks analyzing security incidents implementing protective measures and ensuring compliance with security policies and industry regulations. The Cyber Security Specialist reports directly to the IT Director and works closely with the Network & Systems Support Manager and the technical services support team to strengthen and maintain security defenses and respond to security breaches effectively.
Required Education and Experience
- Associates degree in Cybersecurity Information Technology Computer Science or a related field. Bachelors degree preferred. Equivalent work experience and industryrecognized certifications may be considered in place of formal education.
- Three to five 35 years of experience in a position of trust within cybersecurity IT security or a related field. Prior experience in network security system administration or penetration testing is a plus. An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered.
- Preferred Certifications: CompTIA Security CompTIA CySA CompTIA Pentest ComTIA Network
Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of: cybersecurity principles threats and risk management techniques; security frameworks (NIST CIS ISO 27001 MITRE ATT&CK); network security concepts (firewalls VPNs DNS IDS/IPS Proxies); operating and hypervisor system security (Windows Linux VMWare); cloud security principles and access brokers; compliance and regulatory requirements (HIPAA PCIDSS); Cyber threat intelligence and threathunting techniques.
- Ability to: utilize security tools (SIEM antivirus vulnerability scanners); assess scripting or programming (Python PowerShell); communicate technical security risks to nontechnical stakeholders; adapt to new security tools and technologies.
- Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends holidays etc. as required; Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
