Adler University is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Group Facilitator for the Creating Healing Of Inside Community Educators (CHOICE) program. CHOICE is a peerled inprison initiative aimed at fostering personal growth resilience and positive transformation among incarcerated individuals. Education/Experience:
- Bachelors degree in psychology social work counseling or a related field preferred.
- Experience and/or comfort working with incarcerated individuals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with diverse populations.
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to supporting individuals in challenging circumstances.
- Flexibility and adaptability to navigate the unique challenges of working within a prison environment.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between regional prisons as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Facilitation: Lead group sessions within regional prisons utilizing evidencebased practices and fostering a supportive and nonjudgmental environment conducive to healing and personal growth.
- Travel: Travel between up to 6 regional prisons to conduct group sessions. Flexibility and willingness to commute are essential.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Regional Coordinator to ensure that the program calendar is appropriately staffed for all area groups. Coordinate scheduling and logistics effectively.
- Support: Provide support and guidance to participants as they navigate the challenges of the criminal justice system and strive towards personal transformation. Offer resources and referrals as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of group attendance session content and participant progress. Complete any necessary paperwork or documentation required by Adler University or partnering institutions.
- Training: Participate in required training sessions or workshops to enhance facilitation skills and stay updated on best practices in prison programming and rehabilitation.
Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80 sitting 10 walking and 10 standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
