The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) group is looking for a Flight Test Engineer to join our Flight Test and Evaluation team in China Lake California.
Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake provides and maintains land facilities and other assets that support the Navys research development acquisition testing and evaluation (RDAT&E) of cuttingedge weapons systems for the warfighter.
NAWS China Lake is adjacent to the city of Ridgecrest and is located in the Western Mojave Desert region of California approximately 150 miles north of Los Angeles. NAWS China Lake is one of the largest military installations in the world. In total its main site and two ranges cover more than 1.1 million acres an area larger than the state of Rhode Island.
The primary program supported by The Boeing Company on NAWS China Lake is the F/A18 multirole strike fighter and the EA18 variant. Boeing works directly with our Navy customer supporting its mission to improve the warfighting capabilities of the F/A18 and EA18G through system integration development test and evaluation of electronic and weapon systems.
The site is comprised of employees from across the Boeing enterprise including Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) and Boeing Global Services (BGS). Our site works on programs for the US Military and Foreign Military Sales customers. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including MidLevel and Senior level Flight Test Engineers.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for test planning and analysis of flight ground and laboratory tests of electronic and weapon systems on F/A18s EA18s or their subsystems
Applies general knowledge of aircraft systems (e.g. avionics hydraulic electrical egress systems) components (e.g. multifunction displays wing engine landing gear transmission) and loadable/nonloadable software (e.g. radar operational programs inertial navigation programs operational flight programs)
Evaluates results against customer and design specification
Supports testing to verify system behavior and integration into platform
Participates on test and analysis teams; provides guidance and recommendations to test conductors engineers technicians maintainers customers and management to ensure program and test objectives are achieved
Interfaces with the customer and management at test coordination and/or technical interface meetings to provide findings and recommendations
Builds customer trust by being available for technical consultation and troubleshooting assistance when requested by the customer
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science
Engineering experience with tactical fixed wing aircraft
Experience working with Flight Test
Ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Level 4: 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Masters Degree in Engineering
Prior F/A18 and/or EA18G mission system experience
