SUMMARY:

The Vancouver Aquariums Finance Department has an exciting employment opportunity for a Cash Associate. As our Finance department is high volume and fast paced we are seeking a detailoriented individual who works well under pressure and can manage competing deadlines.

The Cash Associate is responsible for executing and coordinating all daily cash handling tasks and related reconciliations processing payments for invoices and event deposits for Vancouver Aquarium and preparing revenue & statistical reports for management. This role also provides clerical assistance to the Finance office and delivers a high standard of customer service to all staff and liaises with managers on cash operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Ensure successful operation of the Cash Room by:

• Recording and reconciling cash receipts from pointofsale systems.
• Maintaining communication with managers on cash handling policies.
• Coordinating cash movement.
• Investigating and coordinating credit card refunds with managers.
• Printing and distributing tour operator vouchers.
• Reimbursing staff via petty cash.

Responsible for the accurate recording and reconciliation by:

• Relieving cash drawers compiling and balancing daily receipts from pointofsale systems.
• Recording and processing payments for special events and other sources of revenue into various POS and financial systems.

Proactively maintains register floats and exchanges cash denominations for point of sales areas by:

• Ordering coin and small bills from bank.
• Preparing bank deposit.
• Arranging pickup by armored car service.

Provides current information for management to run the organization by:

• Preparing daily attendance and revenue report.
• Preparing cash discrepancy report.
• Preparing or updating other reports as requested.

Provides clerical support to Accounts Payable by:

• Distributing employee reimbursement cheques.
• Stuffing cheques in envelopes for mailing.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience

• Completion of high school required.
• Preferred 1 year experience of large volume cash handling and reconciliation preferably in retail or banking.

Skills

• Strong mathematical skills.
• Basic keyboarding skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office Skills: Word Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Intermediate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Strong internal customer service skills.

Working Conditions

• The hours for this position average one to two weekend shifts during nonpeak season (September June and up to five shifts per week during the summer season (JulyAugust) including weekends.
• Work is completed primarily in a secured office environment.
• May participate in the movement of cash from retail and food outlets to cash room

SALARY RANGE: $20 $30 PER HOUR
