Job Description
Location: Niskayuna New York
Title: Equipment Operator
Schedule (FT/PT): Temporary Full Time
Travel Required: Yes 5075
Clearance: Ability to Obtain
North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering program management environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization environmental restoration unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP) regulatory public involvement services environmental compliance logistics and records and facility management.
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Equipment Operator shall operate one or several types of power construction equipment such as excavators shovels tractors or frontend loaders to excavate move and grade earth erect structures or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operation of heavy equipment such as a tractor bulldozer backhoe or excavator for the purposes of construction demolition or excavation in a high production industrial setting
- Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles used to transport it
- Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure its in good working order
- Driving or controlling heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
- Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to perform tasks correctly
- Filling out performance records to report problems with equipment and track where and when it was used
- Cleaning equipment after use and disposing of any collected ss or waste
- Completing minor repair work as needed
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for routine maintenance or repairs
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Two or more years of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements.
Special Requirements:
- Proof of citizenship will be required as a condition of employment.
- Security requirements determined by the installation. Limited background check and fingerprinting required.
- Must pass access requirements for Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory
- Must pass preemployment drug screen
- Must have a valid state drivers license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of acceptable construction site practices including occupational safety and health regulations
- Department of Energy (DOE) experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Handles the physical demands of the job including standing walking and sitting for long periods and lifting 50 pounds.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions or difficult terrain.
