Description

The Director of Site Civil Engineering and Construction will have direct responsibility for Design Engineering construction bid packages vendor and contractor selection construction capital budgets for landfill construction and other major civil works projectsinvolving site work and foundations.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices policies and processes as well as acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Works with operations and VP Facilities to prepare capital budgets for landfill and major civil works projects.
  • Oversees detailed design plan preparation for permit renewals and compliance submittals.
  • Oversees preparation of detailed bid packages and evaluates contractor bids.
  • Provides Professional Engineering review and seals documents where required for submittals. PE desirable but not required depending on experience.
  • Monitors construction and tracks cost to budget.
  • Oversees CQA (construction quality assurance) subcontractors.
  • Evaluates needs for repairs and solicits bids for same.
  • Evaluates surveys showing landfill airspace remaining for accuracy and consistent approach.
  • Prepares payback analysis for new construction.
  • Working with Senior staff to develop long term plans and strategies and prioritizing critical program/capital initiatives.
  • Ensures site layouts and surveys meet design requirements for construction.
  • Coordinate with key resources across the company to ensure complete project performance.
  • Support development of new capital projects by preparing front end engineering design specifications.
  • Meet with engineers and contractors during multiple phases of the project proposals contract awards kick off updates progress and close out.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 15 years of detailed senior engineering experience related to large site civil works projects and foundations design.
  • 10 years field experience related to construction activities and CQA activities.
  • PE license in multiple states preferred.
  • Ability to travel 1025.
